If you’re looking to advance your career in healthcare in LA county, you’re probably considering an ACLS certification, and that is always a step in the right direction. Whether you’re a nurse looking to get ACLS-certified or a healthcare professional who needs to get recertified, chances are you’re going to need ACLS classes in Los Angeles. They will enable you to best prepare for the examination and earn that certification. What’s more, they will help you build the confidence you need to provide a quick response in real-life situations when a person’s life is at risk. Here’s what you need to know.
How do I become ACLS certified?
This is the general gist: training, examination, action. The training portion draws its curriculum from AHA’s guidelines for CPR and other emergency interventions. The training should apply a detailed theoretical approach and an equally thorough practical approach. Online courses may sound appealing and convenient, but they don’t meet AHA’s guidelines, and are certainly no match for the actual hands-on approach and demonstrations offered in a classroom environment.
Before you become ACLS-certified, you need to be fully prepared for what you’re going to be expected to do. Unlike BLS, which is mostly aimed at preventing patients from getting worse, Advanced Cardiac Life Support has a more complex purpose. It is a set of what are obviously advanced interventions that are meant to bring the patient back to life and actually improve their condition. In other words, ACLS is something you have to be ready to perform whenever a patient is on the verge of death.
At times like that, you might have only a few seconds to think, so you’ll have to think on your feet. This is why you need to make sure not only that you pass the exam and hands-on with flying colors to become certified, but also that you actually learn and fully understand the subject matter. It is only through an in-depth approach and classroom experience where you can feel relaxed and not be too ashamed to ask questions that you can achieve that.
How long does it take to get ACLS certification?
The full course usually lasts 8 hours, whereas recertification takes half as long. However, it may last 10-12 hours in total and even as long as 15 hours, depending on the number of students and the number of tutors or instructors. Once you successfully complete the course, you have some time to prepare and then you proceed to take the examination. If you pass, you receive an e-mail with and E_CARD card after class is taken and passed.
How long is ACLS certification valid?
ACLS certification remains valid for two years, with an additional 30-day grace period, by which time you should have already applied for recertification. If you are currently not ACLS-certified, whether because your job never required you to be or because you weren’t too keen on getting recertified, think again. The more Certifications such as BLS, PALS, and NRP the better!! An exciting new job opportunity could be just around the corner, and you could miss out on it because you don’t have an ACLS certification.
